Getting Started with DriveView
How do I know if DriveView is the best option for me?
We recommend DriveView as a convenient alternative to integrating project44 with your telematics provider or TMS. It’s ideal for owner operators and small fleets, as well as drayage, short haul, and port/terminal carriers. It’s also the best way to start tracking with project44 instantly, so if your customer needs visibility for a load today, we suggest using DriveView.
If none of these sound like your situation, telematics or API are probably better options for you.
How long does it take to setup and start tracking? What needs to be done?
It only takes a couple minutes to start tracking with DriveView. Simply download the app from your mobile phone from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. To ensure successful tracking, location data for the Driveview App must be turned on from your phone settings.
How do I successfully start tracking a load with DriveView?
Once you’ve downloaded the app, there are two options to start tracking:
Track with driver phone number
1. Your customer initiates a shipment and assigns it to a driver phone number
2. The driver is notified via text message and invited to download the app
3. The driver installs the app for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, if they haven’t already
4. The driver receives a push notification that tracking has begun and is linked to their current shipment
5. The driver can now access details about their current shipment, including from the map view and can access critical information about stop along their route from the Stop Cards
6. After the driver arrives at their destination and completes the delivery, they receive a notification that the shipment is complete, and tracking has ended
Driver-initiated shipments
1. The customer sends the carrier the shipment identifier (ID), such as a BOL
2. Carrier dispatch shares that shipment ID with the assigned driver
3. The driver installs the app for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, if they haven’t already
4. The driver taps “Add Load” in the DriveView app
5. The driver enters the shipment ID and follows the prompt to claim the load and start tracking
6. The driver receives a push notification that tracking has begun and is linked to their current shipment
7. The driver can now access details about their current shipment, including from the map view and can access critical information about stop along their route from the Stop Cards
8. After the driver arrives at their destination and completes the delivery, they receive a notification that the shipment is complete, and tracking has ended
How does project44 protect driver privacy?
project44 is tracking loads, not drivers. We only start tracking 90 minutes before scheduled pick up window after the driver has accepted shipment in app. After the driver arrives at their destination and completes the delivery, they receive a notification that the shipment is complete and tracking has ended. If they want to stop tracking earlier for any reason, they can do so from within the app.
