Getting Started with Telematics

How do I know if Telematics is the best option for me?

We recommend telematics for asset-based carriers with fleets of 10+ assets who regularly move loads for project44 customers.

If this doesn’t sound like your situation, DriveView or API are probably better options for you.

How long does it take to setup and start tracking? What needs to be done?

It takes less than a day to setup and start tracking with your telematics provider. To get started, create an account in the Network Management Center (NMC). From the NMC you’ll be able to connect your telematics provider to quickly connect your assets. Simple step by step guides are available in the onboarding process to help complete your connection, or our talented onboarding team can help guide your way.

Need to start tracking immediately? The DriveView app is a great way to start tracking loads for customers immediately while you get your telematics account integrated.

How do I successfully start tracking a load with Telematics?

Once you’ve created an account in the Network Management Center (NMC) and connected your telematics account, all you need to do to track loads with your project44 customers is send them the equipment identifiers (asset ID or license plate) of the truck moving each shipment. They’ll use that identifier to initiate tracking automatically without additional intervention from you.

Alternatively, instead of sending your equipment ID via email or other method, you can use project44’s platform to enter your equipment identifiers on a shipment-by-shipment basis. You can also use Movement to access shipment details, including project44’s advanced ETAs, and view historical analytics on your shipment and tracking performance.

To ensure consistent high-quality tracking via project44, you must maintain an active connection between project44 and your telematics provider and proactively provide shipment identifiers to your customer before each shipment.

How does project44 protect carrier and driver privacy?

project44 is tracking loads, not trucks or drivers. We only start tracking assets 90 minutes before the scheduled pick up window. After the shipment is complete, we automatically stop tracking that truck.

You can be confident that your data is safe since we’re GDPRCCPA compliant, SOC II verified, and ISO 27001 certified.

Where can I go for additional help?

If you’ve successfully tracked with project44 in the past but are now having issues, first check out the Root Cause Analysis dashboard in Movement. Here you can get details on which shipments failed to track, why they didn’t track, and how to fix these issues moving forward.
