The Gartner Magic Quadrant — A Trusted Guide
The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a prestigious industry market report that evaluates and ranks technology providers based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the market, including vendor capabilities, strengths, weaknesses, and future trends.
Gartner evaluates and ranks technology providers based on two critical sets of criteria:
- For “Completeness of Vision,” Gartner analysts evaluate and rate vendors on their understanding of how market forces — current and future market direction, innovation, and customer needs and competitive forces — can be exploited to create opportunities for the vendor.
- For “Ability to Execute,” Gartner analysts evaluate providers based on the quality and efficacy of their processes, systems, methods and procedures, and ultimately judge vendors on their ability and success in capitalizing on their stated vision.
Gartner defines a “Leader” in this Magic Quadrant as an organization with a compelling vision and a reliable ability to execute on delivering proven products with broad, deep, and differentiated functionality that addresses a wide range of user requirements.
In this year’s report we saw project44 moving up to be the leader in both completeness of vision and ability to execute.
The Gartner Critical Capabilities Report — A Closer Look at Use Cases
Published to accompany the Gartner Magic Quadrant report, this report examines the leading use cases for products in the category, and then identifies the critical capabilities needed to fulfill the needs of those use cases. Each vendor’s product or service is evaluated in terms of how well it delivers each capability, on a five-point scale.
The report found that RTTVP vendors’ ability to support multiple modes and geographies varies significantly — not all RTTVP vendors are able to support complex transportation networks.
It also noted that while differences in core functionality between vendor offerings often might seem minimal, differentiation can be found in the approach to data quality, usability, implementation effort levels required, partners and carrier networks, as well extended capabilities.
