Earlier this month I joined project44 as the company’s Chief People Officer. Officially this role means that I oversee the full team member experience from talent acquisition to business partnering, learning and development, leadership development and everything in between. It also means that I, along with the entire leadership team, are the culture carriers for project44, ensuring that our team members – no matter their position or the country they call home – work in inclusive environments that foster teamwork, innovation and learning. Additionally, we work to put the right supports, resources and tools in place to ensure we maximize each team members’ effectiveness and ability to do the best work of their lives.
One of the reasons that I chose to join project44 is that we strive to foster a diverse, inclusive, and people-first culture. Our vision – to improve lives everywhere by creating a connected, predictable, and sustainable world – means not just improving the lives of our customers and partners, but also our team members.
We do this through the values that inform the work we do day in and day out. These values have been in place since day one and are indicative of the importance Jett and the rest of the leadership team place on a strong, people-driven culture. We do our very best to live and celebrate these values with regular celebrations and community-building exercises and monthly awards recognizing team members who best embody these values.
Our values include:
- Share the Wheel: When we need help, we ask for it. When others need help, we provide it. We believe in bringing together diverse teams to innovate and create value for our customers. When we work together, we win together.
- Build Trust Through Real Talk: We believe in a culture of trust and transparency. We assume positive intent and communicate with candor, honesty, and respect. We say and do what’s right, not what’s easy.
- Roll Up Our Sleeves: We are problem solvers. We believe in the organization we’re building and the value we are creating across the world to make supply chains work smarter. We approach problems with grit, resourcefulness, passion, and courage. We take personal ownership and accountability for results and do what it takes to deliver them.
- Say/Do Ratio: We strive to exceed a 1:1 ratio between what we say and what we do. We follow through on our commitments. We set high expectations and relentlessly strive to exceed them. We encourage innovation and smart risk-taking and when we make bets that don’t pay off, we take ownership, learn and adapt.
- Obsess Over the Customer: We put the customer at the center of everything we do. We strive for a frictionless experience at every step of the journey for every customer within our ecosystem.
Having served in leadership positions across companies including Google, Uber, and, most recently, Nubank, I’ve seen what it takes to build a diverse, world-class, people-first team and culture. I am confident that project44’s values – and the emphasis we place on inclusion, collaboration, respect, resourcefulness and candor – enable every team member to do the best work of their lives.
For instance, in just my first week at project44, I joined my onboarding class for a week of learning and development in Rocketship U. We also celebrated p44 Day on April 4 (4/4) to honor our team members around the world, and this week we’re hosting sustainability-themed programming for global team members leading up to Earth Day. It’s content and activities like this that not only foster a strong culture no matter where our team members live, but also help us live up to our values.
As a supply chain visibility innovator, project44 has the opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s daily lives – both inside and outside of our company. I am thrilled to join this world-class team to be a part of this amazing mission.
