Maersk Launches the All-New Trans-Pacific Service (TP28), Modifies the TP20

Maersk has recently launched its all-new Transpacific East Coast service, the TP28.

The service will consist of vessels in the 4500 segment with port calls in Vung Tao, Yantian, Ningbo, and Shanghai with a Panama Canal transit and direct connections to Houston and Norfolk. The service will have its first sailing from Vung Tao on March 23 with M/v. MAERSK WALLIS.

Port Rotation for TP28: Vung Tau – Yantian – Ningbo – Shanghai – Houston – Norfolk

Simultaneously, there will also be a change in port rotation of the existing TP20 service. Maersk has notified that the TP20 will begin featuring their first direct Jakarta call on their Pacific services instead of Vung Tau. It will transit Panama to connect to Charleston (North) and Newark. We expect to gradually increase the size of the vessels deployed on TP20 from 4500 to 6500 segment.

Revised Rotation for TP20 (4500-6500): Jakarta – Yantian – Ningbo – Shanghai – Charleston (North) – Newark

The new service commencement is subject to compliance with any applicable regulatory requirements.
