The Delivery Economy” — the pervasive sentiment in which customers expect low cost, fast and highly transparent delivery of goods — has irrevocably changed the customer experience, impacting both B2B and B2C businesses. 

Every stakeholder in the delivery process must shift their strategy and work seamlessly together to adapt to a changing landscape. From the front-line supply chain managers to C-level executives, increasing collaboration across the ecosystem is critical to success. This disconnect cannot be ignored if companies hope to survive in the Delivery Economy.

In the second report of a series, project44 blind surveyed 300 supply chain professionals to more closely examine how the Delivery Economy is impacting the supply chain and what organizations need to do to remain relevant with evolving customer demands.

Here are some of the key findings:

  • 73% of supply chain professionals say they’re experiencing pressure to improve and expand their delivery capabilities as a result of the Delivery Economy.
  • 82% of managers say they are experiencing pressure to improve and expand their capabilities as a result of the Delivery Economy, while only 57% of executives feel the same.
  • 85% of B2B companies are feeling the pressure to improve or expand upon delivery capabilities.
  • 79% are using a combination of suboptimal methods to manage processes around production, logistics and delivery throughout the supply chain, including email, spreadsheets and paper documents.
